Please remember to bring a wilderness survival kit with you this weekend. There are no specific requirements for the contents of this kit, but you can find many suggestions on the internet. Just pack those things that you feel are needed in a survival kit.
While the forecast for this weekend is significantly better than we have seen for the last couple of weeks, there is (depending on the weather service you trust) a chance for rain on Saturday. Please come prepared to deal with any and all weather contingencies that we encounter in the middle of summer in Iowa. Cost: $15 - Grub-master & fuel to pull the trailer. Please make checks payable to Troop 188. Payment should be made before we leave on Friday evening. Depart: Friday, July, 27th - Cornerstone Baptist Church Loading begins at 5:15 PM so we can leave by 5:30 PM. Grinnell Scoutland is about an hour away, so we should be there in time to setup in the daylight. Wear your Class “A” uniform. Return: Sunday, July 29th - East Elementary parking lot (I believe that it is now open) We'll return around 10:00. The boys will call before we leave so we can give a more accurate return time, so please make sure they know what phone number to call.

I will be having the first part of my Eagle project next Saturday, July 14 from 7:00AM to 2:00PM. My project is to remove all of the old bushes and plants in the walkway area behind the church and replace them with plants that are easier to maintain. I will also be removing all of the old rock chips and replace them with wooden mulch.
Donuts will be provided at 7:00, so make sure to be there before they run out! A lunch will also be provided, so you don't need to bring any food. Make sure to bring any shovels (flat or round head), rakes, wheel barrels, work gloves, and a water bottle. If you have any questions, please email me at [email protected] or call me at 515-988-7900. Thanks Logan Russell |
